Our Story
When Riverside opened in 1990, we wanted to create something different. Our showroom had a character all of its own, from our distinctive rag-rolled fascia with chrome lettering to the individually designed interior.
But what many people remember most was the gloss-black Ford Pop inside the shop. We removed the main side window just to get the car inside. It quickly became a Riverside landmark and a real attraction — but it wasn’t simply there for show. We used it to demonstrate car-audio systems, giving customers the opportunity to experience the equipment properly.
The original showroom had a distinctive 1950s-inspired character. Tall wooden crates and custom shelving displayed the equipment alongside floor-to-ceiling glass cabinets, while the orange-and-green colour scheme, rag-rolled fascia and chrome lettering made Riverside instantly recognisable.
At the heart of the shop was a large sweeping 180-degree curved counter, built from wooden crates and finished with a metallic-orange top. Behind it, vertical wooden slats completed a showroom that was deliberately different from the conventional hi-fi shops of the time.
Technology has changed. Our passion for extraordinary sound hasn’t.
Our showroom proudly stands in the exclusive London suburb of Twickenham – a stone’s throw from the river Thames. Since 1990, we’ve been the number one choice for discerning music, television and film lovers.
